About Edith Cowan University

Edith Cowan University (ECU), established in 1991, is a public research institution located in Western Australia. Named after Edith Dircksey Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament, ECU is the only Australian university named in honor of a woman.

ECU operates multiple campuses, including Joondalup and Mount Lawley in metropolitan Perth, and the South West Campus in Bunbury, approximately 200 kilometers south of Perth. These campuses offer a diverse range of programs across various disciplines.

The university comprises eight schools, delivering courses in arts and humanities, business and law, education, engineering, medical and health sciences, nursing and midwifery, science, and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. ECU is recognized for its industry-relevant teaching and supportive student experience, attracting many international students from over 100 countries.
In 2026, ECU plans to open a new campus in the heart of Perth's central business district, known as ECU City. This development aims to transform the city's educational landscape, offering innovative learning spaces and enhanced opportunities for students.
